AquaX is the fastest growing personal watercraft championship in the world. Its rapid growth is owed to a simple, yet challenging race format that appeals to todays personal watercraft users.
This year the program will include the unveiling of a professional level race series and expansion of two further championships in the Great Lakes region of the USA and in Southeast Asia.

The three-time P1 AquaX champion welcomes Ford as his title sponsor, and will fly the flag for them with a new Ford branded ski in St Pete Beach this weekend. Currently eighth in the standings after the opening round in Daytona Beach, Lagopoulos is excited with his latest partnership and firmly believes that he has what it takes to make them proud.
“I am really excited to have Ford on board as my title sponsor this year, joining my other sponsors Yamaha, Riva, Hydroturf, JetPilot, Fly and Kommander Ind” said Lagopoulos. “I am looking forward to some good results and making them, as well as my fans, proud.”
Lagopoulos managed a fifth-placed finish in the overall standings last year, with his best performance coming at Lake Worth. Reflecting on his 2016 achievements, Lagopoulos is adamant that he wouldn’t change a single thing if he had the chance to do anything differently. “I feel like my performance last year was good. I ended up 5th overall after a switch in brands after round one and a couple of crashes. Overall I was happy.”
Excited by the challenge of fierce competition, the Sarasota-based rider believes that his 2017 rivals have taken the quality of the competition through the roof, but his expectations for the season are still to challenge for victory.
The addition of St Pete Beach to this year’s racing calendar is brilliant news for Lagopoulos, and experience of the area will no doubt provide him with a serious chance of claiming success. “I’m looking forward to St Pete Beach because it’s essentially a home town race for me, I live 30 minutes away and I train in that area.”
Despite training in St. Pete Beach, the restaurant owner is lucky enough to have a race in his hometown of Sarasota as well, providing him a serious edge over the competition. The race in Florida’s Gulf Coast saw Lagopoulos achieve a sixth-placed finish last term, and naturally he is likely to be popular amongst the crowd. It is no surprise that he favors his local race, and believes that he has a real chance of improving on his ranking from last season.
“My favorite race is the Sarasota round, it is in my backyard. I expect that I will have a good showing there.”
